Encouragement
Many of us “pigged out” this Thanksgiving. Let’s be honest with ourselves about that.
Now’s the time to get up and start moving. People always say “I’ll start Monday” or “I’ll start tomorrow”. Make today your Monday; don’t wait until tomorrow b/c a new excuse will just come up and you’ll catch yourself forever saying that.
I found this blog on www.nglf.com to be very interesting.
Check it out. It’s a great way to start moving more.

How often do you wash your hair?
If you’d like to not have to shower every day or if your hair gets oily quickly, you have to try dry shampoo.
No water required! Just spray your hair! It’s so easy.
I’ve heard Oscar Blandi makes the best.

Brazilian Keratin Treatment UPDATE
Hi All. In my last blog, I spoke about my BKT experience. It’s been 3 months now that I’ve had the Brazilian Keratin done and I’m still loving the way my hair looks. I actually prefer how my hair looks now than it did when I first got it done. It’s not as flat but it’s still shiny and healthy looking. It only takes me about 10 minutes to blow out my hair.
I was told that it would last anywhere from three to six months and that the keratin lasts longer in color-treated hair. My hair is color-treated so all along I’ve been hoping for 4 months. So far, so good!
Reasons for weight loss and living a healthier well-balanced life
Because…
“I want to look and feel skinny in my skinny jeans.”
“ Cottage cheese is meant for consumption – not meant for my thighs”
“ I can pinch more than a few inches (ughh)”
“I want to feel confident & sexy in a Victoria’s Secret bikini”
“I’m tired of all my past excuses. Tired of being tired”
“I want to be strong – like, Jillian Michaels strong!”
“I want to be as happy as I can be”
“ My skin, hair and nails deserve so much more”
“I want to set an example; a positive influence to the people I love the most”
The list of ‘becauses’ or reasons is different for each of us that have been there – there at the crossroads where we reach a point that choosing a healthy, well-balanced life is the only – the best option; the best path to take forward. It’s not always easy to stay on the right path. I know for myself, everyday life can be so stressful! Every so often I stumble and lose focus. I’m thinking there’s not enough time in the day to eat my Quaker Oats in the AM, and before I know it, I’m at the office. Emails are never-ending like the oceans’ tide at the shore. My stomach is growling like a lion and my face is flushed with embarrassment, my patience is at its wits end, temper rising like a volcano. Yep, I’m a mess, and I reach a point that I’m oh so stubbornly certain that all the pain will go away with a yummy, gooey snickers bar and as much Starbucks coffee that I can chug down.
Before I know it, the workday is over. I’m driving home on the Northern State Parkway – XM satellite radio on full blaze, while I rock out to “All the Small Things” by Blink 182. Nodding my head, car dancing in ignorant, utter triumph… until the song is over, and the silence slowly drifts me back to reality. The reality was that I lost focus on my list of ‘becauses’, my reasons for choosing to pursue a healthy, physically fit and fulfilling life for myself. The truth is – stumbling is normal; a part of life. The key to reaching my goal and succeeding is to NOT QUIT. DON’T turn around and dwell on the mistakes. Regain focus BECAUSE quitting will not make me healthy, nor will it allow me to feel good in a new pair of skinny jeans…
What’s your motivation? Your reason? Your “Because”?
Foundation – So many out there but which one is right for you?
Like many of you, I’ve tried many different foundations.
I love makeup and am always interested in the latest and greatest.
Smashbox products rock my world and I’m obsessed with Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer – It’s a definite must have in my makeup bag.
Currently I’m using Halo by Smashbox as my foundation. I’m a huge fan of this powder/mineral foundation. This foundation doesn’t provide the ultimate in coverage however. Even though I do love it, I’m starting a hunt for a new full coverage foundation and thought I’d bring you along for the ride. I’m not throwing out the Halo; just adding another one to my list. I’m going to focus on liquid foundations this time.
I’ll be making a trip to Macys most likely later this week.
First stop Bobbi Brown – heard a good tip about her new foundation – Luminous Moisturizing Foundation!
Brazilian Keratin Treatment
My BKT experience
Like most women, I get bored with my hair and like to switch it up every now and then. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the brazilian keratin treatment so I thought, hey why not!
It’s less expensive and better for your hair than the Japanese straightening which really influenced my decision. My hair isn’t crazy curly or anything. I did it b/c I didn’t want to deal with frizzy hair in the summer.
Both Americans and Brazilian salons do the treatment – they use different formulas (or so I’ve been told). I had gone to an American salon.. The particular salon I went to had a big sale for the summer so that’s why I chose the place I went to. A friend of mine had told me that she paid double the price what I paid so I thought it was a good deal.
The whole process took about 2 hours – not that bad. They begin by washing your hair and blowing it out. Afterwards, they put the chemicals on your hair with a brush.
Side note: The smell wasn’t that harsh – just burned my eye a little bit.
After the keratin/chemicals are on your hair, they use a flat iron and go over every strand of hair and your done! (Some salons will blow dry it again after the ironing.)
I was told that I couldn’t wash my hair for 3 days but I went 4 days instead just to be sure. If you hair does get wet, you are to flat iron it ASAP. Also, you’re not to put clips in your hair either b/c that will leave marks in your hair since the keratin is doing it work.
After your 3 or 4 days is up, you can wash your hair. You need to use sulfate free shampoo and conditioner though. This is important b/c the sulfate in regular shampoos will strip the Keratin from your hair and you’ll blow the time and money you just put into it.
I was told that BKT lasts anywhere from 3-6 months – depending on your hair.
So far I’m up to month 2 and absolutely love it! It’s so great not having to fuss with my hair anymore in the morning. You can just wash it and go. I like to blow dry it still.
It takes me less than 10 minutes now to blow it out which is awesome.
