We have all heard about the importance of moisturizing our skin.
We could all reap the benefits from hydrating the largest organ of the human body.
Yes, your skin is an organ. It’s not just there to look pretty, it is the great protector.
Its outer layer is thin, stain-resistant and waterproof. It can hold moisture in as well as keep unwanted water out. It’s No. 1 enemy if you could believe it, is the sun.
Fine and coarse wrinkles are seen on sun damaged skin, which is why we must moisturize. Not only does dry skin appear unattractive, it can also cause stinging and overall pain. Hydrated skin makes us feel healthier and more youthful by preventing premature lines and wrinkles.
I have combination skin. My T-zone is greasy, while the rest of my face tends to be very dry. I set out to try three different night moisturizers and here is what I found.
Boots No7 Lifting and Firming Night Cream
Where : Target
Pros: Light weight
Cons: slightly greasy
Residue stayed on my fingers after applying, causing my eyes to sting
Overall : I really felt that my skin look much better in the morning. I don’t have very many wrinkles to speak of, but my skin looked brighter and firmer in the morning. I made it a point to take my contacts out first or else washing my hands didn’t remove enough of the lotion, and my eye would sting.
St Ives Collagen Elastin Face Moisturizer
Where: CVS, Target , any drug/ convenience store
Pros: Great value
pleasant rose like scent
refreshing while applying
Cons: heavy cream
Overall: While I’m a St Ives fan, I can’t say I noticed any difference in the AM. The cream was heavy on the face, and left my face too shiny. Perhaps those with very dry skin would benefit from this cream, but my combination skin found this cream was just too much.
Olay Age Defying AntiWrinkle Replenishing Night Cream
Where: CVS, Target , Ulta, any drug/ convenience store
Pros: light weight cream
No notable fragrance
Overall: This was my favorite night cream. It was light enough to not feel greasy, but had enough moisture to make me feel hydrated. In the morning there wasn’t any residue left, but my face felt and looked great. I used this in combination with a daytime moisturizer with SPF 15 and by weeks end, I was satisfied with the overall texture and tone of my skin.
I would suggest everyone experiment with night creams. I have found a cream that makes my skin look and feel great. No woman should allow wrinkle to prematurely crawl across her face. A little work before bed time will go a long way in giving you years of healthy radiant skin.
